Go to the shopThis green Kalamkari dupatta is block-printed on cotton using natural dyes, sourced from the Studio Moya cluster in Andhra Pradesh. The motifs, florals and paisleys in iron-black and rust on a green ground, are pressed by hand with carved wooden blocks in the Machilipatnam tradition. Each colour you see required a separate mordant bath and a separate printing pass. Machilipatnam Kalamkari holds a Geographical Indication tag (registered 2008, ipindia.gov.in/gi).
Slight color variations are natural, reflecting its handmade character. Do not bleach. Dry in shade and iron on reverse at low-medium heat.
Each piece is handcrafted, so slight variations in colour, texture and dimension are natural and celebrate its handmade origin.
As an accent scarf: Pleat the dupatta loosely and loop it once around the neck over a solid linen top or denim shirt. Cotton Kalamkari softens with each wash, so a well-worn piece drapes like a favourite scarf. Green pairs well with ivory, mustard, and terracotta.
Formal or festive: Drape it over one shoulder and let it trail behind with a silk kurta or a plain saree blouse, where the natural-dye palette shifts from forest to sage under changing light, adapting to both daytime ceremonies and evening gatherings. Effortless warmth.
