Devoid of basic opportunities, these women strive for self-realization of immediate goals, thereby, adding value to the life of urban users.

Their sense of ownership is beautifully reflected in their art. The product is an outcome of determined hard work over a period of 1.5 days. The chain of processes involved signify the fortitude artisans put in. The utility is alleviated by the usage of unadulterated colors, free from chemical influence. A “must add” to the urban front of a modern household.

About the Artisan Group- The artisan cluster is headed by Nirupama Jena, a mother of two daughters who aspires to bring financial independence to her group. A willing and skilled artisan, she commands the network of finely tuned processes that range from cutting and clearing of sabai grass, soaking in water, braiding, drying, coloring, and finishing. The trade resides within the rural communities of Balasore district of Orissa, India.
