Because the wire runs straight down, the bird hangs well below the lobe and sways as you move. A drilled eye and a lifted wing give each bird its character, and the two are mirrored. Made by hand in Sambhal, Uttar Pradesh.
Solid brass, handmade and built to last. Keep away from water and perfume to slow tarnishing. Wipe with a soft dry cloth; a light patina is natural and can be polished back if you prefer the brighter finish.

Each piece is handcrafted, so slight variations in colour, texture and dimension are natural and celebrate its handmade origin.
These are long, fine lines with a small weight at the end. They work best when the neck and jawline are left clear for them.
Most earrings fix a decorative piece to a separate hook. Here a single wire does both jobs, which is why the bird can hang so low and the pair still feels light.
The bird: A small, sparrow-like outline is marked on sheet brass and cut out by hand, with a raised wing and a short tail. The edges are filed round so nothing catches on hair. Small and simple, on purpose.
The eye: A single tiny hole is drilled or punched where the eye sits. It reads as a dark dot from a distance. That one mark is what turns a cut-out into a bird.
The wire: A length of brass wire is straightened and the top is bent by hand into a long, open hook, with the end smoothed so it passes cleanly through the piercing.
The join: The bird is fixed to the lower end of the wire, typically by soldering at the back of the body, and angled so it sits level when it hangs. The surface is brushed, and the two birds are set to face opposite ways so the pair mirrors.
