Product Details

A wide brass cuff cut by hand from a single flat sheet, then pierced into interlocking loops that scroll across the wrist. Nothing here is cast. The surface is lightly hammered, so it catches light unevenly the way only hand worked metal does, and because it is solid brass with a natural finish rather than plating, the tone deepens the more you wear it. Open at the back, it eases on to most wrist sizes, and it is made by artisans working with My E-Haat.

Materials & Care

Solid brass, handmade and built to last. Keep away from water and perfume to slow tarnishing. Wipe with a soft dry cloth; a light patina is natural and can be polished back if you prefer the brighter finish.

Each piece is handcrafted, so slight variations in colour, texture and dimension are natural and celebrate its handmade origin.

A wide openwork cuff reads as one clear statement, so the rest of the look can stay quiet. Worn on a bare wrist, the looping brass does the talking.

Everyday: Pair it with a plain cotton kurta, a linen shirt, or a solid tee and jeans. The gold tone warms up neutral colours like white, beige, and olive, and the open pattern keeps it light for all day wear. Keep the other wrist bare or add a slim watch.
Work and formal: Against a solid colour saree or a structured blouse, the cuff adds one deliberate note of shine without competing. Stick to a single metal across your jewellery, gold tone studs or a thin ring, so the look stays composed.
Festive and occasion: This is where a brass cuff earns its place. It sits well with silk, with handloom weaves, and with deeper colours like maroon, emerald, and midnight blue. Let it be the main piece and keep earrings small.
Fit and wearing: The cuff is open at the back and eases on over the narrowest part of the wrist, then turns to sit flat. Do not fully straighten and re bend it often, as repeated flexing stresses any metal. Slide it on last, after clothing, so it warms to the skin quickly and protects both the piece and the fabric through a long evening.

This cuff begins as a flat sheet of brass, not as molten metal poured into a mould. That single choice shapes everything about how it looks and wears.

Marking the pattern: The looping design is drawn onto the sheet first. Each loop has to connect to the next so the finished band holds together as one piece once the gaps are removed.
Cutting the openwork: The spaces between the loops are cut and pierced out by hand. This is the slow part. The artisan follows the drawn line, and the small variations along the inner edges are the record of a hand working metal rather than a machine stamping it.
Texturing and finishing: The surface is worked with light hammer taps, which is why it catches light in broken points rather than a flat mirror shine. Edges are then filed smooth so nothing catches on skin or cloth, and the whole piece is burnished until the brass brightens.
Shaping the cuff: Flat until now, the band is curved into its final cuff form and left open at the back. No clasp, no hinge. It is solid brass throughout, with a natural finish and no plating, so the colour is the metal itself.
How to spot the handwork: Look at the cut edges and the hammer marks. On a cast or stamped piece these would be identical and perfectly even. Here they vary slightly from loop to loop, and that unevenness is what a mould cannot copy.

The cuff is made by artisans working with My E-Haat under the HCL Foundation livelihood programme.

What is a brass cuff good for?

A brass cuff is a single statement piece that finishes an outfit without needing a full set of jewellery. Its warm gold tone pairs easily with both casual cotton and festive silk, which makes it useful for everyday wear and occasions alike.

Does a brass cuff turn your skin green?

A brass cuff can sometimes leave a faint green mark on the skin, a normal reaction between the copper in brass and natural skin moisture. It is harmless and washes off, and it is more likely in humid weather or with heavy sweating. Keeping the cuff dry and wiping it occasionally reduces it.

Who should not wear a brass cuff?

Anyone with a known sensitivity to copper or metal alloys should patch test a brass cuff before wearing it for long stretches. Brass contains copper and zinc, so a small number of people may notice mild skin irritation. If you have reacted to costume jewellery before, wear it for short spells first.

Is this brass cuff solid brass or plated?

This brass cuff is solid brass with a natural finish, not a plated or gold coated base metal. Because the colour is the metal itself and not a surface layer, it will not flake or wear through to a different metal underneath. Over time the tone deepens, which you can polish back or leave to age.

What are the disadvantages of brass jewellery?

The main trade off with brass jewellery is that it tarnishes, darkening gradually as it reacts with air and skin. This is cosmetic rather than damage, and a quick polish restores the shine. Brass is also heavier than thin plated alloys, which some people prefer and others notice.

How do I clean and care for a brass cuff?

To clean a brass cuff, rub it gently with a little lemon juice and a pinch of salt, or some tamarind paste, then rinse and dry it fully. For a lighter touch, a soft cloth with a commercial brass polish also works. Store it dry and away from humidity to slow tarnishing between wears.

Is brass or stainless steel better for a bracelet?

Whether brass or stainless steel is better depends on the look and upkeep you want. Brass gives a warm gold tone and handmade character but needs occasional polishing, while stainless steel stays bright with almost no care but reads cooler and more uniform. For a handcrafted gold toned cuff, brass is the traditional choice.

Will this brass cuff fit my wrist?

This brass cuff is an open, one size design that fits most adult wrists by easing on over the narrowest part. The opening at the back allows a small and careful adjustment for a closer or looser fit. Avoid bending it open and shut repeatedly, as that stresses the metal.

Is the Ring Loop Brass Cuff handmade?

The Ring Loop Brass Cuff is handmade from a flat sheet of brass that is cut, pierced, hammered, and shaped by hand. The looping openwork is cut individually rather than cast in a mould, so small variations between loops are expected and genuine. It is made by artisans working with My E-Haat.

Is a brass cuff a good gift?

A brass cuff makes an easy gift because it suits many wrists and styles without needing a size. This one arrives as a single handmade piece with a clear maker story, which gives the gift something to say. It works for festivals, birthdays, and everyday thank you gifting alike.
