A saffron cotton saree hand block printed with paisley butas, carrying a patterned border and pallu.
Slight colour and weave variations are natural, reflecting its handmade character. Hand wash separately in cold water with mild detergent. Do not bleach. Dry in shade and iron on reverse at low-medium heat.
A hand block print is made one impression at a time. The printer inks a carved wooden block, sets it against the cloth, strikes it, lifts, moves along, and repeats until the length is covered. Every motif arrived that way, individually placed by eye.The repeat is close but never mechanical....
